Job Description

The American Forest Foundation (AFF) is currently seeking a new VP, Family Forests to join its Washington, DC based team.

Reporting directly to and working in conjunction with the President and CEO, the VP, Family Forests is responsible for visioning and implementing the strategic direction of the Foundation’s Family Forestry Programs. In addition, the VP develops and administers budgets for family forestry programs and initiatives, and collaborates with Development staff to shape and execute fund raising strategies and activities.

He or she serves as a key leader of AFF’s woodlands program transformation group overseeing the new Landowner Engagement Strategy. The VP also functions as a liaison to strategic partner organizations and as a key representative for AFF in the broader forestry community with policy makers, corporate/industry leaders, and others, and is responsible for the certification program of AFF, the American Tree Farm System (ATFS.)

The competitive candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in forestry, business administration, public administration, management, finance, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Candidates should possess at least 10 years of progressive work experience with demonstrable knowledge in US forest ecosystems, ISO processes, IAF audit procedures, and state and federal policy making. In addition, preference will be given to candidates with budgeting and financial management expertise, and experience working with volunteers and Boards of directors.
